A piano prodigy, Anita Gregory was in show business by the age of 14 as a much in demand rehearsal accompanist on Broadway. Discovered by Warner Bros Records, she signed a recording contract and began writing songs for feature films and TV shows. The daughter of legendary actor Charles Durning, she began screen writing and producing.
In 2010, Anita formed Second Avenue Productions to make unscripted and scripted programs a reality.
About Me
After graduating from Manhattanville College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, Anita went on to tour the country with a nightclub act that logged over 3,000 performances in clubs, Casinos, and hotels all over the United States. Anita was consequently discovered by Warner Bros Records and signed a recording contract. Her dance hit “The Man I Love” was the number one record in Europe for 3 consecutive months.
As Anita continued to expand upon her musical talents, she began writing songs for many feature films and television shows including several title songs that she sang on the sound tracks as well. Having grown up in a show business family, as the daughter of legendary actor Charles Durning (Tony and Golden Globe winner, two-time Academy Award nominee and 9 Emmy nominations), she made a natural transition from music for films to screen writing and producing.
She has also appeared on numerous television shows and movies including a recurring role on the NBC soap opera “Days of Our Lives”. Some of her films include “Tin Soldier”, “Chicken Soup for the Soul”, “Second Chances”, “Shark Skin” and “Harlen and Merlene.
As a screenwriter, Anita has had several of her scripts and treatments optioned and developed, two of which by legendary Producer Robert Papazian of Papazian/Hersh Entertainment and another with Bill Prady. In 2010 Anita formed Second Avenue Productions (formerly known as “Shepherd Star Productions”), and currently have sold two network reality shows to A&E, and one reality show to the Oxygen Network.
